Rosehips are the fruit that grows on various species of rose bushes, that are bright red-orange in colour with a spiky crown, rich in vitamins including vitamin A, C, and E, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids that help to nourish the skin. This medicinal herb is well known for its anti-aging properties, its ability to hydrate the skin, reduce hyper-pigmentation, boost collagen formation, reduce inflammation, promote skin cell regeneration, and protect from sun damage.

TALLOW

Tallow is a whole-food skincare product. It is made from fatty cuts from regeneratively raised cows, that is rendered to produce a highly-stable fat that is rich with bioavailable vitamins, minerals, and nutrients including vitamins A, D, K, E, B12, selenium, choline, and omega 3. Tallow resembles our natural skin’s sebum, making it suitable for all skin types without causing irritation or acne.

The composition of tallow consists mainly of fatty acids: oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids. Similar to the fatty acid composition of our skin.

Oleic acid is an omega-9 fatty acid which is easily absorbable and deeply penetrates the skin. Oleic acid modulates inflammation, is a powerful antioxidant, helps to regulate the moisture barrier of the skin, the lipid barrier, and balances the natural oil production of the skin. This contributes to tallow’s powerful ability to hydrate and protect the skin from environmental damage, and prevent breakouts, without clogging pores.

Stearic acid is a building block that supports the structure of the skin.

Palmitic acid pairs with stearic acid to create an occlusive barrier that helps protect the skin from infection and damage from toxins, while trapping moisture in the skin.

Vitamin A, or retinoids, are necessary for healthy skin and even skin tone. Retinoids promote cell turnover, collagen production, and angiogenisis (the formation of new blood vessels) therefore increasing oxygen and nutrient delivery to the skin, which results in improved skin elasticity, reduction in sagging, fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, skin aging, and sun damage. Retinoids also help protect the skin from cell damage from environmental factors such as pollution and UV radiation. This vitamin is used to treat acne in adolescents and adults, and psoriasis.
