BREATHING

One thing I practiced this weekend was my breathing. My weakness on the hill is that I mentally psych myself out. Deep belly breathing enhanced my focus and confidence. Even better, it helps to engage your parasympathetic nervous system, the part of your nervous system that's responsible for relaxation, digesting, and healing. The one that balances out the sympathetic nervous system which is responsible for the fight-or-flight (stress) response.
Have you ever watched kids breathe? You can always see their bellies blow up as they breathe in, but as adults we often lose that and breathe shallow. Just another reason to find that inner child!
